When I came home from the festival season in 2012, I was riding passenger side in my sisters mini van as we took a drive through the prairies, towards Rolla. The sun soaked canola. New oil rigs popping up left and right. The clouds stretching out as far as the eye can see. I remembered how much I missed it there.
Dawson Creek may not be where I want to spend the rest of my life, but it will always be "home" to me. Now, after the festival season in 2013, sitting in Grand Forks, feeling triumphant over the fact that I will not be spending another "20 below winter in Dawson Creek" I think about my future and the fact that in some years down the road I will spend another winter there. In the cold, cold, sun soaked, prairie snow. I will do it with purpose, and I will treasure every moment.
lyrics
Ain't nothing I missed more than these county drives.
With you by my side, watching the hills roll by
and I, well I've been gone far too long and I ( Ohh ohh)
I've been wasting all, all my precious time, but now
I am home x4
Ain't nothing I missed more than this prairie life.
Lay down by my side, and watch the clouds roll by
and I, well l've been gone far too long and I ( Ohh ohh)
I've been wasting all, all my precious time, but now
I am home x4
Ain't nothing I missed more than these Northern nights.
The fire in your eyes, keeping us warm at night
and I, well l've been gone far too long and I ( Ohh ohh)
I've been wasting all, all my precious time, but now
I am home x16
